One of the most sought-after directors in Bollywood’s Hollywood district is Anurag Kashyap. In addition to Gangs of Wasseypur, he also directed Manmarziyaan, Saand Ki Aankh, and other films. He is currently preoccupied with marketing his forthcoming business, Dobaaraa. Anurag Kashyap has highlighted a number of issues about the #MeToo Movement in an interview.
Anurag Kashyap stated in a Siddharth Kannan interview on YouTube that he finds it upsetting when someone accuses him of doing something inappropriate because he has experienced abuse in the past. Director of Gangs of Wasseypur said, “That (the accusation) bothers me a lot. I come from a history of abuse so I understand what abuse is. So when someone accuses me of such allegations, it bothers me. You accuse me of murder, you accuse me of anything, I don’t care but when I am accused of something inappropriate and improper like that, it bothers me and it makes me very angry. Because I come from abuse, I have been abused so I understand what that means.”
He continued, “That last thing you want to do is do that to someone else, and when somebody says that, it bothers me.”
Speaking of his latest project, Dobaaraa, it will be Anurag Kashyap’s third collaboration with Taapsee Pannu following Saand Ki Aankh and Manmarziyaan. The film is described as a futuristic thriller. This year’s August 19 release date has been set. Fascinatingly, Dobaaraa will signify Taapsee’s return with Pavail Gulati in addition to Anurag Kashyap. To be noted, Taapsee and Pavail previously appeared together in Thappad, a 2020 film directed by Anubhav Sinha. Dobaaraa, directed by Anurag Kashyap, is being co-produced by Sunir Khetarpal’s ATHENA and Ekta Kapoor’s Cult Movies.
