Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar, dubbed the “Tragedy King” of Hindi cinema, died on Wednesday morning in Mumbai at the age of 98. At 7:30 a.m., he passed away at Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital. Dr. Jaleel Parkar, a pulmonologist who was treating the renowned actor, confirmed that he had passed.

Faisal Farooqi, Dilip Kumar’s spokesperson, also tweeted the terrible news. “I announce the loss of our dear Dilip Saab, who passed away just a few minutes ago, with a sad heart and great grief. We are God’s creation, and we will return to Him “Farooqi took to Twitter to express his feelings.

Kumar, dubbed the ‘Tragedy King’ by generations of moviegoers for his depiction of the brooding, passionate romantic in classics like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ and ‘Devdas,’ was recently hospitalized to the Hinduja Hospital in Khar, a non-COVID-19 institution.

Dilip Kumar had a career that lasted five decades in Indian film. Kumar, whose real name is Yousuf Khan and who is frequently referred to as the Nehruvian hero, made his first picture, ‘Jwar Bhata,’ in 1944 and his last, ‘Qila,’ 54 years later. “Mughal-e-Azam,” “Devdas,” “Naya Daur,” and “Ram Aur Shyam” were among the films he appeared in throughout a five-decade career, and subsequently, when he progressed to character parts, “Mughal-e-Azam,” “Devdas,” “Naya Daur,” and “Ram Aur Shyam” were among the others.
