According to director Shankar, shooting for Kamal Haasan’s eagerly awaited movie Indian 2—which sees him make a comeback as an octogenarian vigilante—resumes on Wednesday after a lengthy hiatus of two years. The filming was put on hold in February 2020 as a result of an accident on the sets that left three people dead and 10 injured when a crane carrying heavy-duty lighting fell. Shankar announced the restart of filming on Twitter on Tuesday night, after rumors that the project had been put on hold.

Lyca Productions is funding Indian 2, which also has Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simhaa, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in prominent roles. Musician Anirudh Ravichander has been enlisted. Sharing a fresh poster for the movie starring Kamal Haasan on Twitter, Shankar wrote: “Good morning Indians, we are glad to announce that the remaining shoot for Indian 2 is commencing today! Need all of your support and wishes (sic).”
