Varun Dhawan Samantha Ruth Prabhus Citadel gets the axe while Honey Bunny and Matilda De Angelis Diana faces uncertain

Amazon recently announced the cancellation of the spin-offs Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana, following their first seasons. This decision came as a disappointment to many fans who had enjoyed the Indian and Italian narratives from the series. However, there is still excitement surrounding the main Citadel series, set to feature Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden, with a planned release in 2026.

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season of Citadel. He described it as the most thrilling installment yet, promising to delve deeper into the emotional arcs of characters like Nadia, Mason, and Orlick. Sanders also teased high-stakes storytelling, a bold cinematic experience, and the introduction of new cast members, building anticipation for the new season.

The cancellation of the international spin-offs was met with mixed reactions, especially in light of the unexpected departure of Amazon MGM head Jennifer Salke. Salke, who had championed the global spy thriller as her most ambitious project, left many wondering about the future of the Citadel series. However, with the official synopsis revealing a new threat in the form of syndicate Manticore, fans can expect an action-packed second season.

Currently in post-production, Citadel Season 2 will see the return of familiar faces like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Richard Madden, and Stanley Tucci. The cast will also include new members like Leo Woodall, Ashleigh Cummings, Paul Bazely, and Roland Møller, promising an exciting lineup for fans to look forward to.

As fans eagerly await the release of Citadel Season 2 in the second quarter of 2026, they can catch up on the first season and its spin-offs on Amazon Prime Video. The series continues to garner attention and anticipation, with viewers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the thrilling spy saga.
