Laal Singh Chaddha, which stars Aamir Khan and has been in production for a few years, will finally hit theatres in a week. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Mona Singh play significant roles in the film, which has been under production during the pandemic. Vijay Sethupathi was chosen for the role of Balaraju Bodi before Chay came in to take his place.
Everything went according to plan until the Super Deluxe star had to leave to make room for the Telugu-loving child.
If you’re not aware, Laal Singh Chaddha is the authorized Hindi translation of the beloved Forrest Gump movie from Hollywood. Vijay Sethupathi was originally cast as Aamir’s best friend, Laal, whom he meets during his time in the army. The movie was planned to represent Sethupathi’s entry into the Hindi cinema industry. However, the actors had to leave, according to the producers, due to schedule concerns.
When asked about replacing Vijay Sethupathi in Laal Singh Chaddha during an exclusive interview with Koimoi, Naga Chaitanya replied, “Honestly, I’m not sure of what happened with Vijay sir. They only mentioned the fact that dates were a problem and nothing else. I do know, though, that when Vijay Sir was cast in the role, they had intended for him to be portrayed as a Tamil-speaking boy traveling in the North with this whole chemistry thing going on, but as I am from AP Telangana, it turned out to be a Telugu-speaking guy instead.
The actor continued by discussing whether the parallels to Vijay Sethupathi hurt him. “So yeah, not really in terms of comparison. Each actor, in my opinion, is very, very distinct. Their method is different, as is their personality. They express themselves creatively in diverse ways. I admire Vijay Sir greatly and am a tremendous fan of his work, so yeah. He is amazing, and I even loved his character in the previous movie I saw, Vikram. So, that concern was unfounded. He was recognized for who he was, and I was recognized for who I am, said Naga Chaitanya.
